Ishpingo Essential Oil comes from the Ocotea quixos, a species of evergreen wild-harvested in Ecuador and Colombia. The tree is known in Quechua languages as Ispinku, and more recently as Flor de Canela, or Cinnamon Flower. The tree bark is used to produce “Ecuadorian” or “American” cinnamon while the flowers and leaves are used to create Ishpingo Essential Oil.
Ishpingo has similar properties to Cinnamon Bark but is much gentler. Ishpingo Essential Oil has a very low percentage of cinnamaldehyde, making it much safer for topical use than traditional Cinnamon essential oil. This oil is an excellent option for cinnamon lovers who would like to add spicy fragrance to topical products like body care and DIY bath add-ins.
Due to its warm, spicy fragrance, Ishpingo has stimulating properties that may be helpful during times of fatigue or worry. Use 2-3 drops in a personal inhaler for the afternoon, post-lunch fatigue. Ishpingo is also the perfect addition to bring a warm, spicy note to your seasonal blends! Diffuse 2-3 drops Ishpingo per 100 mL of water and blend with Vanilla or Orange for a lovely, fall-tastic aroma.
Last, but not least, you can also use Ishpingo to help keep your house clean during times of seasonal threats. Try Ishpingo in our favorite DIY Dusting Spray for an inviting fall scented home.
